• I have been living in Santa Monica, Venice, and Marina del Rey since 2002.

A little about me.

• I grew up in Olympia, Washington

• I went to Pomona College (graduated 1994) and then U.C. Berkeley for grad school (Ph.D. in political science, 2002) and then UCLA for law school (graduated 2008)

• I have been working as an attorney since 2008

• A book I wrote got published in 2013, titled Vanishing Coup: The Pattern of World History Since 1310

• I have two sons, ages 19 and 16. They are smart, handsome and seriously fun to hang out with. I am so proud of them. This is the most important bullet point, by the way.

• If you see a guy throwing a triangular boomerang on Santa Monica beach, it’s probably me. Feel free to say hi. If you want, I’ll show you how to throw it.

• Music: I like it. Faves include The Dandy Warhols, Liz Phair, Washed Out, Emmylou Harris, and The New Pornographers.

• I have been learning to sing for the past two years. My neighbors love this.

• Books: War and Peace, Age of Innocence, Middlemarch, and Pride and Prejudice.

• TV: The Chosen, Severence, Poand Battlestar Galactica.
